If you pay attention, Kevin Williamson's movies are totally based on Fred Walton's movies. The beggining of "when a stranger calls backs" remembers the tension of Scream, with the killer on the phone surrounding the house. "I know what you did last summer" is the same idea presented on Fred Walton's "I Saw What You Did from 1988" aka I Saw What You Did... and I Know Who You Are! So, if you like Kevin Williamson's movies, say thanks to Fred Walton's ideas.

Fred Walton's "I Saw What You Did from 1988" is a remake from the 1965 movie starring Joan Crawford. I know what you did last summer came from Louis Ducan's book with the same title, that written in the 70's.
