How did Landis enter Julia's apartment?

I watched the original movie and took comfort that I live in a 3rd floor apartment. There are lots of trees just outside my window so when I'm watching scary films I imagine I'm on the ground floor near woods or something to make myself more scared but of course I know I'm safe on the 3rd floor. Then I put this movie on and to my horror the killer is getting into a 3rd floor apartment! Ahhhhh!!!

Anyway maybe I missed it but how did he get into Julia's apartment? Did he just have keys or was it explained that he did it some other way?

Thanks.

*spoilers below!*

It was never literally explained, but it was implied by John that he picked the locks.

It seems he truly was "The Great Landis" in the sense that he was everything: ventriloquist, makeup artist, locksmith, Olympic sprinter (how else does one explain how he got away from Jill in the supermarket lol!), Strong and silent Man (he hefts two heavy kids out a window (?), adept at handling/giving drugs (one can assume he gave the kids a sedative shot to knock them out (?) and functional psycho.
And yet, at the end, he's a dork who was badly in need of a antipsychotic milkshake and a long stint behind hospital walls. Scary man!!!

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."
