Well, I just downloaded Legend of the Overfiend and I'm in the process of converting it to VCD format, but I've been hearing that LotO is edited quite a bit. I'm just curious as to how much was actually cut. And I also hear that the only way to see it uncut is to watch the original OVAs. Are those available on DVD?
Depends. The American "Perfect" Collection doesn't have any footage cut as far as I know, but the Australian version has almost an hour taken away from Overfield and Demon Womb. I read it was just all sex though so I really don't care.
I mentioned this in a ntoher post, but ill put it here again. Even the US 'Perfect' Collection is edited (not as badly as some, but still)
It doesn't matter which version be it, Japanese, US, Australian etc, they are all edited. It's just a matter of where, and how. The only way to get it in it's entirety is to watch the Perfect Collection DVD and the old Animego OVA vhs back to back.
Both have scenes clipping and censoring where the other does not, so that's the only way to get the film as originally intended.
the perfect collection is LOTO and LOTDW together 250 mins uncut unrated which is all 5 parts of the first instalment.i have this and the qualety is not that good and theres some masking of genitalia as its direct from the japan print which had laws at the time about showing genitals so the original print was masked (black dots). i also have a uk version with digitaly remasterd print and score but!!!! it is realy badly cut it runs aprox 102mins.55 for legend with open and closing titles and demon womb is 83mins 35 with open closing titles total of 185min.9sec thats over 65 mins of cuts not counting the credits most of the cuts are from legend. the cuts are not all sex altho all the penatration is cut but also demon rape, mutalation of women not necaseraly sexual in content naked dead women some extreem gore and violence is also cut. dont take notice of the dvd box run times it says 108 mins its wrong that includes the logos and menus ect it is exactly 102 55 sec with opening closing credits
