Does the title mean something?

I first heard of this film years ago but I've just watched it for the first time (English dub DVD). "Urotsukidoji"... does that have a literal meaning in English?

reply

Chôjin densetsu Urotsukidôji means "The Wandering Kid"

Thanks.

Now I'm not claiming to be an expert on japanese, but I guess you could say the most literal translation of the title would be something like:

"Super-being Legend Wandering Boy"

- "Chou" meaning super, ultra, hyper.
- "Jin" meaning either a person or some other human-like entity (for instance, a person born in japan can be called nihonjin).
- "Densetsu" meaning legend.
- I'm not really sure about "Urotsuki" because I can't find it in any dictionary, but I'll trust what others have said.
- And finally we have "douji", meaning boy or kid.

Whilst the context would obviously change the meaning, according to Dictionary.com's translator, the title means
"Super God legendary loitering baby"
