in the scene after Julie moves into the apartment, she hears a bunch of loud knocking noises...when she walks through the apartment, the camera follows her and finally stops, and there is the silhouette of a womans face in the lower right corner. Anybody know what that's about?

I assume that you're referring to the scene in which she hears the man who was getting beat up entering her building. There's a silhouette all right -- it's Julie's shadow.
