blue mobile

I was mesmerized by the beautiful mobile in this movie made of cobalt blue (glass?) beads. I would love to find and buy one like it, but I cannot find one. Does anyone know where I could get one? They found one for the movie (unless they made it), so it or something similar must be out there somewhere.
By the way, I really like the movie, too.

I've been obsessed with this set piece for over 10 years! I'm pretty sure they made it specifically for the film. I have never in all my searching found anything like it, but have recently started work on making one. The materials cost about $150.

From what I can tell, each strand is made of varying sizes of blue Swarovski octagon chandelier crystals, tied onto a clear fishing line (not sure what gauge) and then tied at the top into a plastic disk with evenly spaced holes in the shape of a fat diamond.

I'd pretty much say it's hopeless that you'll come across one for sale, but if they can make it, so can anyone. Good luck.

I looked and looked for this too. A Polish friend of mine said that mobiles such as this were common in the 70's in Poland, but that they often had lights around the top. This info is highly questionable since his English was pretty bad. My boyfriend made me one out of glass and beads, but I would still love to have one mad of Crystals. Could you post a pic of yours and perhaps where you found the crystals. I priced them at much more than $150 when I considered making one myself. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. It's interesting to know I'm not the only one in love with this mobile! $150 is a lot of money, but it is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and I've always been fascinated by mobiles, chandeliers, windchimes, and similar hanging decor. If you find out the best online site to buy these Swarovski crystals at the lowest price available, I'd appreciate your input.

I watched the Criterion Blu-Ray release of this film last night, and was also struck by how beautiful this blue crystal mobile is. I've been searching the internet for it, and can't find it either. If anyone has a tip, please let us know!
