What was with the Music

It is great music but it felt somewhat out of whack with the movie if you know what I mean, the thing that was a little surprising is there would be parts of the movie where Juliette Binoche would say something and then the music would come in heavy and then it would fade back to where she was the previous scene, I'm trying to figure out what that meant exactly, it's a beautifully shot film but I think the music kind of dragged it down or was the music supposed to be that intentionally loud?

The music is a constant reminder of her husband. She tries to get rid of it by junking the partitions but a street musician is playing it, it's mentioned as being the key music for the reunification of Europe (see funeral television) and so on. Since JULIE was the mind behind the music, it probably makes her bitter or perhaps bittersweet, it's something she wants to leave behind but clearly cannot.

I also found the intrusion of the music heavy-handed.
