No Academy Award noms?!
Can't believe this received NO nominations from the AMPAS. It should have had nnominations in following categories: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Score.

It's been over 20 years, and i still cant believe Juliette Binoche wasnt nominated.
shareThe Oscars are mainly for English-speaking movies, so it's not really surprising.
Of course there are exceptions, but JB's performance is very understated in this film. Something that usually doesn't get on the Academy's radar.

red was nominated for several academy awards, but it was disqualified because it was submitted by switzerland and it wasn't a "majority swiss production."
at the end of the day who cares, though? these films are out there, and they're incredible. on a very basic level, winning an award in no way changes the quality (or lack of quality) of a film.
