age must have a major genetic component because I do not get how he lived so long, he died in 1992 but this story took place almost four decades earlier in the mid 1950s and he was kind of middle aged then. Now I get that some people live to a ripe old age but this guy was a jerk and an alcoholic and you think that would kill you faster.

I was listening to a radio show where a 107 year old man was being interviewed by scientists studying longevity and he was admitting to smoking and drinking and several other unhealthy habits and sometimes evil nazis live to be really old, its just so damned unfair that A holes sometimes live long lives while good people die young. I even read once about a pedophile that was raping children at age 93, you would think someone would have killed him by then.
