Try watching it again for camp value - it exceeds on that level.
Check out the user reviews here on IMDB for this movie and you will see that many people, including me, really like it. Everyone admits that it's a lousy movie by any conventional standard, yet somehow it seems to deliver on entertainment. I love it.
Faye Dunaway confuses me in this. She's the one part of the movie that I don't like. Her acting is just so bad, so hammy, I can't swallow it. I guess maybe she was shooting for funny or over the top.
I like the whacky dialog, the all star cast, the inspired premise, the buddy content, and lots of other stuff. The ending is lousy, that's unfortunate, but it doesn't matter. By then you've already made up your mind as to love it or hate it.

He's already made up his mind? That's the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it? It's a lousy movie, according to you, but you love it. I think that's all we need to know. There's nothing to love about this movie except the music by Fredric Talgorn. The lousy ending doesn't matter? The fact that it's a lousy movie doesn't matter because somehow it's entertaining? Because you see it as "camp?" Some camp is entertaining - this, sadly, does not fall into that category. The categories it does fall into are inept filmmaking, bad writing, bad acting, unbelievable characters, and horrid direction. I hadn't made up my mind in advance, in fact I was rather looking forward to it. I made up my mind by watching this mindless piece of horse manure disguised as a movie.

You don't have to attack me dude. You didn't like the movie, I did-there's no reason to go to war over it. I agree with all your points. Inept filmmaking, bad writing, bad acting, everything you said. Even so, I like it. That's no reason to assassinate my character.
I can fully understand someone that doesn't like this movie and doesn't see any value to it. In fact, I find it harder to understand why I and others like it than I do why some might not like it.
It's not just me. Look at the reviews here on IMDB and you will see that a lot of people really like it. None of us (except the guy that compares "The Temp" to the top 10 greatest movies of all time) tries to say that it's a good movie by any conventional standard.
The lousy ending is unfortunate. The ending is even lousier than the rest of the movie. The movie would be better if the ending were better. I wish the ending were better. But it doesn't matter because if you like the movie you've already gotten your enjoyment out of it before you get to the ending. I like the movie, lousy ending and all, so it doesn't matter that much to me. If you don't like the movie, you would already decide that about 30 minutes in and a better ending would not change your mind.
