Bruce Willis either shoots or kills three guys on a barge and in the next scene (Same day, hours later) he is getting off duty and telling Sarah Jessica Parker that she "did good today". Holy Christ, does Pennsylvania have anything like investigations at the scene, interviewing the cop involved in the shooting, sending him to a hospital for possible trauma or god forbid relieve him of duty for his own benefit? I think I'm gonna transfer out of New York and become a cop in PA.

I don't really get your post. Its a movie so how the hell can they include all the things you mentioned and still have time for the actual story?

I know!! That bugged me too. He managed to kill three bad guys, no big deal, and all the cops at his old precinct kept being a jerk to him anyway. No press, no investigation, nothing. He just like wandered off.

I said something to my gf at the time and she suggested that they might all just be desensitized to it. I replied that I'd heard that the majority of cops don't even fire a gun in their entire career. It's a stat I've heard before, but I don't know if it's true. From my understanding, police have to be accountable not only for every round in their weapon, but they also have to justify if their weapon is brandished at all.

What irks me about this film is that ok, Jimmy is the killer...but WHY? Nowhere is it mentioned anywhere WHY Jimmy did this. Is he a sex maniac? Psychotic? what? The mystery of who is solved, with the BIG GAPING HOLE of why.

What's so complicated about the why?

Jimmy was just nuts, and loved getting away with it.
The only interesting question is Nick (Jimmy's dad). Did he survive, so they could give him the death sentence (killing a fellow officer and aiding a homicidal maniac by framing someone else for their crimes)?

That's a good point. What did happen to Jimmy's dad?

Also it comes to something when Tom Sizemore is out crazied in a movie. Even when he's a goody he's nuts.

I thought it was passable not great and Willis kept pulling funny faces but it was ok. Much better than the colour of night.

It is just a movie and they did not go into detail about what you mentioned. So take it as it is and how they did the film.

It is a freaking movie...Look, I was a cop for 25 years and I know what you are saying but what movie have you seen where they spend the rest of the movie on a crime scene after a police shooting? How many people did Dirty Harry kill-no crime scene investigation, Lethal Weapon etc etc etc...
