finally get the title
I finally get the title hardy was looking for the killer and all along he was in striking distance pretty clever
shareWell, not really. The first hint about the title is the beginning of the film when you have the title card showing two electrical bolts coming out from either side of the title. The killer used a - stun gun(!) - before killing his victims and with a stun gun, you must be within --- striking distance!
shareYes, the title might be a reference to the stun-gun. I guess it was the best they could come up with at the last minute. The title of this movie was always "Three Rivers", but just as the movie was being completed, the studio marketing people thought that "Three Rivers" might make the public think it was a baseball movie because Three Rivers Stadium was the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"Striking Distance" is the perfect name for this movie. It really exemplifies shi.tty 90's forgettable action flick. It reminds me of a Steven Segal movie title like "On Deadly Ground" or the Jeff Bridges/Tommy Lee Jones movie "Blown Away". Straight 90's action. It suits it well.

I remember seeing a DVD cover of a Dolph Lundgren movie called Direct Action. Doesn't get much better than that.

Dolph kept finding ways to avoid doing any action himself.

I have always though this title is so funny and out of place. Usually I don't even remember the name riight..
(Most of the time I remember it'd be "The Little Red Riding Hood"..
Of course I usually don't use the English title as I live in Finland. And here the translated title is something else entirely..
In Finland this movie is called "Jokikyttä" which could be translated as "The River Cop". To me that somehow would make perfect sence =D.
I agree with you. "The River Cop" would have been a more logical title, but nothing could have saved this piece of junk. Bruce Willis considers this as the worst movie he has ever made.

In Germany this movie is called "Gefährliche Nähe", which translates to "Dangerous Closeness" or anything like that. Suits the film quite well. Maybe it's the exat translation of "Striking Distance", but then again, how am i supposed to know? I'm not even German :)
shareyeah, i've always called it 'gefährliche nähe'; i think it captures the mood of the movie better.
