Theo hating Crawl

I must've missed something. I always wondered why Theo hated Crawl so much. I could maybe see him not liking him, but he really despised him. Look what he did to him in the end. It was for no reason too.

I think Theo thought Crawl was the cause of all the drama going on initially--it was pretty much 'understood' that Becca was going to marry Trevor, and then all of the sudden this 'outsider' comes in between them.

To add to that, I think when Crawl announced he'd become a farmer like them, Theo thought he was mocking them (and Crawl does come across as being a little condescending, so I could see that point), so it solidified into "Who does this jerk think he is?"

And if I'm to be charitable, Theo may have been worried about 'the long run'--he was essentially a high-ranking farmhand on a successful working farm (due to his boss knowing how to run a farm), and was probably figuring to retire from there....and along comes Crawl, who announces he's going to marry his boss's daughter and take over the farm someday...and Crawl clearly has no idea what he's doing and would have run the farm into the ground. Theo may have seen his job/retirement in jeopardy, and given that he clearly wasn't a young man, may have worried about trying to find employment somewhere else.

So Theo actually did have a few things at stake in regards to the Crawl/Becca pairing.

But it doesn't excuse what he did, he crossed *way* too many lines.
