Mike Myers' Best Movie?

I watched Austin Powers the other night and was taken aback by how badly it has aged. It was surprising, because I remember finding that movie to be hilarious when it came out, but that could have also been because of my fondness for Wayne's World, and by extension Mike Myers, after getting the VHS movie with a kid's meal from McDonald's when I was young. Anyway, that had me thinking about Mike Myers in general and how out of everything he's done, So I Married an Axe Murderer has probably stood the test of time more than anything else, Shrek aside. Sure it's just a 90's rom com and by no means a fantastic film but it's still an enjoyable watch without the obnoxious gimmicks that put an expiration date on his other works.

Absolutely! I love this movie and have to rewatch it every couple of years. You can see him working on some of the schtick he’ll use later, but this is before he went overboard with it.

A movie both the wife and I love, although I get much more enjoyment out of how gorgeous Nancy Travis is with so many different looks in this.

And man some of the supporting bits:
Alan Arkin as a police captain trying to be tougher like the ones on tv
Steven Wright as an unperturbed pilot in a storm
The awesome Charles Grodin
And Phil Hartman with some unique takes as a guide in Alcatraz
All hilarious!

Man that’s a quick reply! Is there a way to get notifications or you just hang around here a lot?
I’ve been coming here since the old days at IMDB but just don’t post much. Being retired now, cruising through here every now and then is fun though!
I love this flick and have never figured out why it doesn’t have more cult cachet, like say Better Off Dead level.
And while Myers is great and Travis too, those cameos really put it over the top for me.
And all the quotes, Move your heed, it’s like Sputnik!
