Different Versions

I have this on DVD R2 and found more than just the ending different. The opening is different as is the scene where Beckett kills the other sniper by using Billy Zane as bait. I don't think this film cost millions and millions of dollars, so why is there at least 2 versions? Not just the toned down ones that IMDb has listed?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I've noticed that the ending doesnt have Beckett shooting the guy with his handgun at the end and where Beckett shoots the sniper who is stalking them through his scope is removed as well. I think that the ending with the helicopter is awesome and the music is awesome as well, i was quite annoyed that it was removed.

Yeah, it is annoying. And I have a version where there is no helicopter ending but the two snipers just walk into the sunset like two lonesome cowboys. It was horrible, ruined the whole movie. I kept the disc as a curiosity, but ended up buying another one, with the helicopter ending.

Where'd you get that version, was it Region 1? I didn't like that one where Miller carries Beckett across the beach to safety. The helicopter ending capped the film off.

No, it's R2, my DVD only plays the European versions. I can't recall where I bought it, we order a lot of movies through the net. But I was shocked when I saw it for the first time, the sappy luckyluke-ending ruined the whole movie.

The bullet through the sniper scope was awesome and has been mimicked in several other films now. Can't believe they cut that bit out and also the helicopter ending is just fantastic. I love the last line.

"Beckett, there's always Montana."

So brilliant it really shows that these two people have earned the respect of each other one.
