The aspect ration looked crazy. I verified on other DVD reviews that the aspect ratio was at 2.0:1 on the DVD... and it looks way bizarre. Like it's stretched vertically or something. My laserdisc version is 2.35:1 and it looks a lot better.

Looks like they started compressing the 2.35:1 to 2.1:1 up to the first murder and then cropped the rest to even it up.
sharewhat is the difference between the rated and unrated versions? i've seen both and i saw the unrated version recently. can someone tell me what the difference is? it's been way too long since i saw the rated version!!!!!!!

I've seen two versions of this movie. I guess I saw the unrated one first cause in the first sex scene,it shows Baldwin in missionary postion with Stone and the camera zooms out and you can graphically see him with his rear end sticking out on top of Sharon with her legs wide open. Pretty graphic stuff for a movie so I take it that's the unrated one. The camrea shot is going in a circular motion. Then I saw this movie years later on vhs, and noticed that the sex scene was shorter and that scene I mentioned was cut short. That's about the only difference I noticed. To make a note, the first version I saw had spanish subtitles and it was the more graphic one. The less graphic of the two was an american vhs tape.
shareI havn't seen it, but I remember something similar happening on the Mullholland Drive DVD. It only happened with a particular DVD player on a particular (older) TV. Just a bad combo, I guess.

although i bought the UK- VHS "uncut" version years ago and i didnt see any difference, i might buy the unrated as we are promised 4 extra minutes of sex footage,also i need to buy basic instinct as the US has a unrated version aswell and also elektra, stupid crappy uk cut versions,damn you americans and your unrated versions.
As far as I can tell, the unrated is nowhere near 4 minutes longer - i can only see like 2 shots that are different from the original. what a rip off.
sharehi guys i love the movie but im so disapointed with the dvd.theres no trailer or music videos 4 songs from the soundtrack were realised in europe as singles and what about the different endings.also has anybody noticed in the trailer that when shes been shown the apartment she lets one of her gloves fall when on the balcony.also guys if anybody has the trailer in a file that they could email me i would be very very greatfull
