jonah running his dad’s life. no one finds that deranged??

doesn't that make the dad seem sort of like an idiot?

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

I don't think Jonah runs his dad's life, I think they just have a close, open relationship and the character of Sam is still trying to figure out the whole "single parent" thing- how to raise a young son and what is ok to do and not to do...all without the natural, maternal instinct of his wife to help him along.

you obviously arent a single parent
your kid is your whole life and has to always come first when you are a parent
even more so when you are a sole parent and have noone else to help you

Obviously, Sam is a liberal and doesn't see that Jonah might need a little spanking..!

Athiest too...!

I thought the kid was crying out for a spanking the whole movie. He was a petulant little snot.

Of course, it's the movies, and a kid who has never even been on a date can do a much better job than his dad of finding an ideal mate.

Just like in the movies, the guy who yells and screams about the space aliens or androids from the future attacking the Earth is going to save the world, and those who question his sanity are the irrational ones.

If there could be a sequel to sleepless in Seattle, taking place 15 years later, I could see the now grown up kid being a carny, a druggie, in jail or being involved in some Occupy Seattle protest.

Sam and Annie had some intense sex sessions for about a week, before they started to really annoy each other. Then they parted ways and went back to their mundane lives.

They each went on to marry other partners. The end.

The movie truly is absurd. Once Annie meets the kid and finds out what a little turd he is she would sneak out in the night never to be seen again. And it was a horrible idea to have a movie where the lead character is grieve stricken for 3/4 of the film.

Great quote by the way.

" The rug really tied the room together, did it not? "
