Everyone I know loves this movie and I don't get it.

I don't know what it is that I am not seeing but this movie just bugs me.

The little boy (Jonah) is a little jerk who runs roughshod over his father and really needs to be spanked and grounded.

The woman (Annie) is a chicken who basically cheats on her fiance before running out on him to be with a guy she heard on the radio over what is basically just a case of cold feet.

I enjoy fantasy and romance and all but this is just dumb.

How is it romantic to have a loudmouthed kid run your life and get stuck with a woman who lacks is all flash and no stay?

It's got some good lines.

But really, it's an homage to movies from the 1950s.

Bill Pullman certainly gave up easily didn't he?

See, and I like old movies too.

It did have good lines though.

Why would Pullman fight for a woman that wants to leave him over a voice on the radio? He has got to feel like he dodged a bullet.

You're not the only one who loathes this movie.
The woman dumps her fiance because she's disgusted by his allergies. If she's that
superficial, she's going to be able to handle a guy who has trouble getting over his deceased wife? And, of course, she has to dump Walter on Valentine's Day, thus
ruining the holiday for him in the future.

And the little boy is one of the most obnoxious children in movie history. Maybe
some people thought his calling one of his father's dates a "ho" was cute and adorable; I thought it showed what a nasty little brat he was.

The movie did have a happy ending--Walter was off the hook and free to find a
more decent woman (which shouldn't have been too hard).

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

Hewwo.

I just watched this movie for the fist time last night and I agree.

the character of Annie came of as a creepy stalker weirdo.

the whole thing was just crazy.

I've watched it several times, and there are some good parts. I like watching Hanks and Ryan on the screen...so it has that going for it. Rob Reiner and Rita Wilson gave good support. But overall I agree with your assessment.
