shareI don't remember exactly, but wasn't the mother a travel agent? At that time they could have issued the ticket right there stating it had been paid for with cash. They wouldn't need the money until the reports were sent in.

shareI used to fly from Houston to Corpus Christi twice a month on budget friendly Southwest Airlines until I got a driver's license.
My dad had to check me in and my mom had to check me out (vice versa on the return visit). I didn't get to the airport and handle the check in all by myself.
Really? I'd fly from San Antonio to Houston (and back to San Antonio) when I was a teen on Southwest. I never had to check in or out. Maybe the SA to Houston/Houston to SA people were less diligent lol
shareI always thought her mother worked for airlines/booking agency so she had direct to reservation system, thus she could buy ticket without paying (they can always say it was in cash) and just later when they will check numbers they will find the missing money. Children are flying on their own and 8 or 12 (if we are to believe nobody questioned his age and asked for any sort of ID) is not that young really especially for domestic flight.
