A Question to All Trained Singers Who Have Seen this Movie...

As someone who was a Musical Theater major in college and has taken voice lessons since I was in high school, I have to pose this question to other trained singers out there...Am I the only one who thinks it would have been virtually impossible for the choir in the "Joyful, Joyful" finale to produce that huge of a choral sound and still do that very physical choreography at the same time?

reply

yes i agree and was thinking that when i saw it. i think it is totally impossible

reply

Totally agree. I've sung and taken singing lessons almost all of my life (since I was about 5) and come from a musical family and none of us no matter how fit we became could sing and dance like that.

That's why people like Britney Spears lip synch.

reply

I don't think it is impossible at all. As a Vocal Performance major as long as you condition your voice, and you are in good shape. Show choirs do this kinda stuff all the time. Plus they all get a huge breathing break during the rap part. It's defineatley not impossible.

reply

As a trained singer and someone who has done many performances over the years where singing and dancing is done simultaneously i will tell you it's not at all impossible. The choreography that they use is very simple and would not put much strain on a properly trained voice.

reply

whether it is impossible or not, who cares. it was a great film!

reply

It's not impossible at all. I was in my school's show choir & we had to do shows that required a lot of dancing as we sang some pretty powerful songs. It's definitely difficult b/c you must be in good physical conditions, but it's not impossible.

reply

I agree, it wouldn't be impossible and I'm not a trained singer or anything, but I do have a background in music and playing instruments. I think it helps if you have a powerful enough voice that carries far and wide.

Yeah, I was a trained singer.

But you know what? After being out of the circuit for so long, I just appreciate the performance now and stopped being critical.

reply

Yes, I'm not the best. I took it for 2 years, but I have heard that, so no I don't think it's impossible.

You've obviously never seen Gwen Stefani or Fergie live.

gwen stefani or fergie aren't nearly as good as the singers in the movie were.
that said, it would be VERY difficult, not impossible, but definitely hard.

That gave me a good laugh out loud. Why would they even be brought up?
