1. why was the school going to close down?
2. why did the mother doesn't her daughter sing in the choir?
the mother didnt want her daughter to sing because she didnt think it would get her anywhere. the school was closing dowen because it wasnt doing very good and it didnt have a lot of money.

Basically the school did not have enough fiscal funds to operate and the 'mom' was an idiot.
