who is this girl?

i am looking seeking asistance from anyone who is able to provide detail about a girl who play one of the classroom kid in sister act 2. i don't know her exact name and been searching all over the net looking for any information that i could find of her without much success.

she is potray in several scene in the movie. most notable is when sister mary patrick, sister mary lazurus and sister mary robert announces to the students that they've just enter them in all state choir competition six week from saturday. after a brief mixed reaction from the other student, the sence shifted to her where she responded "guy, guy, i think we should do it, we owe it to our self"

in another scene, just before the choir is about to perform joyful joyful, the student were at the back stage preping for their performance. the sence shifted to mary sister lazurus and her where she reflected upon suster mary lazurus about being nervous. "i'm so nervous, i don't think i could go on" the scene ended with both her and sister mary lazurus yawning.

in the stage performances, she is standing at the last row on the right, wearing a red T shirt over what seem like a ligh blue vest, short jean pant with vertical black and white design, black sock and white colour shoe.

from her appearance she seem to be half caucasion and half black. but i could be wrong. she have the most beautiful blue eye i ever seen with brown curly hair.

i would appreciated for any information about her. thus far i narrow down the choice to either martha gonzelaz or Dionna Brook jackson. i eliminated those from the names from the classroom kid who are not female cast or pure female causasion. the result are those two name. although i think Martha gonzelaz sound more like mexican, which is a another possibility that she is mixed with. all i know is that she is neither just black or neither just white. she must be of mixed origin.

any information would be deeply appreciated. even if it just the name is good enough. send me an email if you have any information to [email protected]

It's not Martha Gonzalez...she's in the front row, far right side, and was one the one using sign language at the beginning of Joyful Joyful.

I was never sure which actress played the girl you're talking about. I thought that Dionna might have played the girl who sang harmony to Valeria Andrews' "If You Wanna Be Somebody" riff in the classroom, but I could be wrong.

Process of elimination: it's not...

Valeria Andrews (back row, red overall shorts, 3rd from right)
Jennifer Love Hewitt (duh)
Alanna Ubach (back row, farthest right)
Martha Gonzalez (noted above)
Tanya Blount (tall girl, front row, 2nd from left)
Lauryn Hill (duh again)
Monica Calhoun (front row, 3rd from left)
Kimberlee Kramer (aka Riley Weston, back row, 3rd from left)
DeeDee Magno (Asian girl, back row, farthest left)
Sacha Thomas (curly hair, front row, 3rd from right)
Alex Martin (Whoopi's daughter, middle row, farthest left)

This leaves 2 girls...the one you're asking about, and the one Valeria sang with. IMDB.com only credits one other girl as "classroom kid" (Ashley Thompson), but I don't recognize her as being in the choir.

Can anyone else shed any light?

well after going through the meesage board, i found out that it is not martha gonzalas. she only had one speaking role and that was toward the end of the movie. i didn;t know that martha was the one doing the hand sign gesture. she was far toward the back when that sence was shown.

well you could be right about dionna having being the one that sing harmony with valeria. or it could be the girl that i was searching for. who knows.

through out the entire movie, it seem that there weren't a lot of student in the sence. but as the movie shifted to the competition where they sang joyful joyful, the number seem to double. i know there use additional dancer to cover the number. could it be that her name is mixed with those brunch as well?

but i seriously doubt that. although her role may not be as active as some like lauryn hill and ryan toby, she is still an intricate piece of the movie. she have more appearance and speaking role then most of the other student.

i originally thought that she might be monica calhoun. but having a good look at her photo, i don't see any resemblence. could it be that her name was accidently left out of the credit?

i would appreicate if you anyone else could shed some light on this.

When all else fails, ask!

Believe it or not, I was able to e-mail Valeria (and get a response!). She said the girl she started to sing "If You Wanna Be Somebody" with was Dionna. She couldn't remember who the girl you're asking about, but said she'd try to find out. Will pass along if I hear back from her.

wow! a response from valeria. that certainly is a surprise. beside being extremely attractive, she have knack for singing as well. it just a shame that her popularity is not all that well known. i think she would've been a great singer in her own right. btw, how did you get in touch with her? myspace? facebook?

but glad that we able to single her as being Dionna. and that prove my suspicion that indeed her name has been left out of the credit and was not mention. odd, considering she have more distintive role in the movie compare to those who doesn't

certainly hope Valeria could come up with a name for our mystery woman. she should be in her late 20's by now depending how she was when she was cast in that movie.

Mystery solved...her name is Ashley Thompson, but it's not this one: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859870/ I'll let imdb know they've linked the wrong girl to this movie.

Ashley is the daughter of Ron Thompson, one of the associate producers of the movie. I couldn't find anything else about her.

thanks alot sean for resolving the mystery and correcting a mistake which might as well go unnotice if you have not taken the initiative of doing the research. at least now i know the name of the girl i am searching for. make a whole lot easier to continue my search for her else where. appreciated your effort through out all of this sean. now that i got a name, i appreciated anyone who have more information about ashley thompson to share them with me.
