Mr Crisp misses a trick?

Mr Crisp had his reasons for wanting the school to close. He discovers in the magazine Dolores real identity and tells the principal whose immediate response is to phone the competition organisers and pull his choir out of the competition. But Mr Crisp says no, lets drive there and deal with it ourselves. Why? Why not let the principle inform the authorities, ruining the choirs chance and securing the closure of the school? I don't get it.

Other than needing that as a plot line, I thought he was afraid of his boss(es) finding out he'd hired an imposter.

I was wondering that myself, especially because later he says, "Didn you tell the arch diocese people when you called them about Sister Mary Fake?"
