Questions

I just watched this movie for the first time, and I was totally into it. It is definitely one of those films that will benefit from repeated viewings. Unfortunately, I have to return it to the library tomorrow, so my time with it is up.

So, I was wondering if someone could help me with a few questions. They are pretty basic, and I will admit it is likely that I just missed something here and there, so please, go easy on me!

First, what was going on with Jerry and Bill? They kept going off together every time the two couples were hanging out. What exactly were they doing?

Second, when Jerry and Bill go off to pursue the two cyclists near the end, Bill's girlfriend (whose name I didn't catch) asked where they were going? He handed her a beer and kissed her, but did he tell her what they were up to? Did she know?

Finally, did Howard's father (Jack Lemmon) end up staying with Olla after he left his wife? They way he recounted their relationship was that it was only that one unexpected time, but when he first showed up at the hospital he went on about how Olla told him about Howard's success as a reporter. So, I wasn't sure if they remained together.
