I was an extra in the making of the movie Rudy. I had some photos I had taken while we were at Notre Dame making this movie. I had lost all but one in a fire. I have kids and grand kids that would love to see them. Give me a reply if you could help out in any way. Thanks in advance.
I met a lot of great people during the making. I remember several Western Michigan football players. The big Off. lineman in the movie was a former Notre Dame football player and another guy who previously played for the Detroit Lyons. I remember driving to South Bend hoping to get a spot, turns out I was the kicker in the movie. I was able to meet most of the entire cast and get to spend a little time with them. We got to visit a lot of the on campus locations for filming. The most exciting moment of the experience was when we ran out of that tunnel and the crowd cheering. That scene had been filmed at half time of a real ND game. Getting the experience to be a part of making a movie like Rudy is one of the best memories of my life. Even though we were just payed extras,,, they treated us like movie stars.
The Special Edition DVD of the movie, released in 2000, contains a brief behind-the-scenes making-of-the-movie feature as one of the bonus items. The Blu-ray DVD released in 2008 contains this also.
As another idea, you might turn to newspapers to find photos. The South Bend Tribune and Notre Dame's student newspaper, The Observer, certainly would have covered the making of the movie. You could try contacting them to see if they allow people to browse their photo archives. Also, both of these papers are available on microfilm at the Indiana State Library. You could look through the papers from the time of the filming--October 26, 1992 through January 11, 1993.
