Why was the brother such an *beep*

I get that 22-year-old Rudy's dream of attending Notre Dame seemed far-fetched to his brother, but he didn't have to freak out about it. When they're in the bar and he hears Rudy talking about going to see the coach, he acts like Rudy's trying to steal from him. A lot of people told him his dream was unlikely, but Frank just went above and beyond in trying to discourage him.

It was selfish. His brother was bigger and a better player than Rudy but did not have the same heart.

This was how the movie was structured. I just wish that Rudy's biggest enemies did not come from within his family. One brother steals his girlfriend and the other is as you say way too driven to discourage him from his dream.

Yeah, Rudy's antagonists were fabricated for the story, but the screenplay makes it clear that Rudy and Sherry were done.

It would be ridiculously weird and awkward though if Sherry started dating Rudy's brother in real life.

In real life, I started dating my brother's recent girlfriend. Yes, it was pretty awkward for a while. We've been married now for more than four decades. Best thing that ever happened to me.

So glad you're happy (the very best part of my life is my wife of 38 years) and I hope you get decades more. Was your brother OK with you dating his ex?

it is simple film writing by the films writer

rudys brother is supposed to represents all people who are jealous of other peoples success. and butthurt because they never followed there own dreams in life. so they hate the person who chase there dreams because they did not do so themself

rudys brother in real life probably not like this but they put it in this film to create more tension and depth to film

reply

Maybe dramatic license.
