This Is A Great Example of Good Filmmaking

I was looking at blurays/dvds at Carrefour a few days ago (European version of walmart) and I saw the dvd of Romeo Is Bleeding in the cheap dvd section. Generally these are crap films which nobody buys. It was 5.99 TL (Turkish liras). Anyway I looked at the back cover and saw that Gary Oldman starred in the film. I think Gary Oldman is one of the most underrated actors ever, he is very talented. Anyway I bought the film thinking ir might be good and it wasn't only good, it was amazing. The cinematography was beautiful, as well as acting and others. The storyline was good and I wasn't bored for a second. A film noir set in the 90s with a sort of New York we haven't seen before. Some people might claim the psycho woman character was unrealistic but I don't think so, criminals are not like normal people, and she's a prime example.

In short, this is one of the most unknown great films that can be bought for a low price. It is underrated and not known by many people, but it's still a classic crime thriller with a film noir feel.

8/10

Indeed, this is a remarkable, totally GREAT film.

Kinda hard to believe it was such a "flop". I mean, commercially/box office-wise... whatever. Who knows why people watch what they watch. But critically it was slammed too.

Talk about an underrated film in need of a reappraisal..
