IMDB goof section for Rising Sun

In the goofs section for this movie, IMDB have listed the following:

"Revealing mistakes: When Connor checks his weapon in Smith's apartment, the revolver's chambers are clearly empty. You would assume he was checking to make sure the gun was loaded."

I totally disagree. I think Sean Connery's character was actually making sure the gun wasn't loaded. It's obvious that, by the character's very nature, he'd never use a gun to resolve a situation. Whenever he encounter's difficulty in the film, he either talks his way out of it very effectively, or uses his little finger trick to disable the opponent. Its probably something he learned from all his time in Japan. I suppose its similar to Jack Foley, George Clooney's character from Out Of Sight. Firstly, he robs the bank with no gun, then at the end, he empties the chamber before his showdown with Karen Sisco. What does everybody else think?

I agree 100%

And I dont think its that difficult to figure out. They really reaced on that. Assumption? Stick to easy things to point out.

Also, 6.0?? I love this movie. Not an 10 or anything, but at least a good solid 7.

reply

yeah, a 7 sounds good. and the operative word is 'solid'. its a good story, told well, with some good performances. nothing spectacular, but damned enjoyable. Connery is very good in it.

how can you possibly say that the gun was meant to be empty if Sean Conery fires the gun when he finds Snipes on the grass, having been shot. he clearly fires two rounds, so the gun must have intended to have been loaded. the goof is legitimate.

reply

Yea, i agree. In the book hes totally like that, bussiness is war, and he sees it that way too, so he cant possible fight bussiness with guns, he fights when with tactics. So yea, i agree, thats an error on the behalf of IMDB.

You should pay better attention. Connery told Snipes to wear the bulletproof vest in the apartment. It was Connery who shot Snipes in the back to avoid Snipes from continuing the battle with the Japanese and probably getting killed. He knew it would just incapacitate him and not seriously injure or kill him. Even in the interrogation the cop tells Snipes sarcastically later: "It was lucky you were wearing a vest."
