If you mean Eddie and the CEO played by the late great Mako, they weren't father and son. Eddie's father was a rival CEO who lived in Japan, and was never seen in the film, only mentioned by Sean Connery's character, Connor (and by 1 or 2 others, I think), who had saved Connor's life when Connor lived in Japan.

Incidentally, Mako played a similar character a few years earlier in a very different film: the comedy "Taking Care of Business" - J.J. Abrams' first film which he co-wrote with his college girlfriend, Jill Mazursky.

P.S. In addition to having Mako playing a similar CEO, there were other commonalities in both films:

Several references to letting the CEO win at tennis/golf

Mistaking a main character for a parking valet with undertones of bigotry:
A guy throwing the keys to his Rolls Royce to Jim Belushi's character saying "Take care of it, Chico" (and he took care of it :) )
/Ritchie telling Wesley Snipes' character to get the Senator's car.

Snipes' character mistaking Eddie's last name for "Sakamoto" - the name of Mako's character in the comedy.

None of the above scenes were in the "Rising Sun" novel.
