The black-and-white movie scene before the 'peddler' mission ?

I mean when Maggie was lying on the bed, watching a movie that the woman shot the man.

I just don't understand...why?
Does that has anything to do with Maggie?

I have been confused with that for many years...lol

Seeing a woman as a killer in the movie made her flinch, showing us she was not totally without conscience.

I was thinking whosoever directed this film wanted the viewers to suspect, at

the end of the film, Maggie was going to shoot Bob.
