of La Femme Nikita?

I have watched the first 1/2 hour of La Femme Nikita and it's almost identical to this.

I think it is one of those shot for shot remakes for the US.

Yes. The original was the French made "La Femme Nikita", which is far better than PONR. Bridget Fonda didn't make a good Nikita, while Anne Parillaud was perfect for the role.
