Did she deserve it? *Spoilers*

Did Maggie deserve to go free at the end? I know we all make mistakes, but that was one hell of a mistake PLUS I never felt she was truly remorseful.
She was indignant. She was *sorry* that she would never be left alone.

No, she did not deserve to be free. Would the victim's family ever be 'free' from the memory of the murder? I don't think so. So why should the murderer be free?

Agreed.
Maggie never showed one smidgen of remorse for what she did! She doesn't say "I did something really bad, and I can never undo it." or "I did something really bad, and I'm so damned sorry for it."
She only cries because she's STILL paying for her murder!

Yeah, no thought to the fact that for the rest of their lives, the family of the victim lives with what she did.
