Honey buns at the liquor store??
My friend and I wondered at this scene. Since when do they sell honey buns at a liquor store??
"Some laughed. He let them. His own heart laughed, and that was enough."

Here they sell em all the time...the liquor stores where i live dont only sell liquor..but chips, juices, honeybuns,etc..all the stuff that corner stores sell
shareI always wondered if it was a play on words in this scene... she asks for some red-hots and some honey buns... she's wearing a red mini skirt that clearly highlights her "honey buns..." LOL!
I could be reading far too much into it... but it gives me a slight chuckle to think that maybe this was intentional...
They sell all kinds of snacks at the liquor store in my city. Anybody ever notice that the little boy she sends to the store to get the honey bun, is younger Dough boy from Boyz in the hood? Just throwing that out there..... Lol
shareSame here in Chicago.
Of course not all liquor stores are like that.
But most of em are.
After all you gotta eat somethin while your havin a good time.
LoL!
Sounds like somebody who has never been to a liquor store.

Were you asking me?
I've been to many a liquor store. I've just never seen one that sold anything but liquor.
Soda and seltzer and such, but no food.
"In nature, I've found the only stupid animals here are us."
I don't know about any of you... but I live 2 hours from south central Los Angeles presently, and I HAVE lived in the greater Los Angeles area for some time in my recent past. I am not here to lay the ground rules for liquor stores, and I am not going to contest what some of you out there may know or not know about liquor stores or how liquor stores may be run in your particular region of the world. But...
I have seen snacks sold at liquor stores. On my way to work today, I picked up a bag of peanuts and some cheez-its at a liquor store. It isn't a full-scale grocery store type of setting, but there are consumable snack-sized goods being sold at liquor stores. This is a known fact that I have witnessed with my very own two eyes, and have even participated in, as recently as just a few hours ago, when I purchased some cheez-its and peanuts on my way to work.
Food IS sold at liquor stores. Why is this such an unbelievable concept?
funny...

It really depends on what state you live in. In North Carolina we have ABC Stores (Alcoholic Beverage Control) which is run by the state. If you want to buy liquor you go to the ABC Store and that is all they sell just liquor. If you own a night club or resturant you have to make sure you have a permit to sell liquor. I know that whenever I'm in Maryland or Washington,DC area anybody can get a permit and open up a liquor store and sell liquor, candy, honey buns, lottery tickets whatever they want to sell but I notice in North Carolina the only liquor stores here are ran by the ABC board (Alcoholic Beverage Control)and the ABC Stores are closed on Sundays.
shareSounds like somebody's never been to a liquor store in the hood!
shareliquor stoes in my area, you might be able to get gum, maybe a slim jim, that's about it. if you had chilren with you, they used to give them a lolly pop, don't even do that anymore.

Where I reside liquor stores also sell sodas, juices, lottery tickets, cigarettes, candy, gum and snacks. I think most of the snacks are jerky, chips, nuts and crackers. I am going to have to closer look the next time I visit the liquor store.
