Still can't believe how thick Janet was back then.

I just finished watching poetic justice and I still can't believe how thick and cute Janet was back then. Chicago was right when he said she was in league of her own.

What he said she was way out of Lucky's league.

Janet was always thick though, how old are you? lol

reply

some people look better thicker. she does.

"Duh. You're the idiot. Not me."

She was pretty thick, lol

"Walk yo fatass home, scandalous ass *beep* do them fatass thighs some good anyway!!!"

Watch the video "Pleasure Principle." That was a THICK Janet.

You must be younger than 30, great_one_32789. Those of us who grew up on Janet Jackson's '80s videos have seen an even thicker Janet. Check out the videos for "When I Think of You" and "Control", for example - the "Poetic Justice" Janet is pretty slim compared to how she looked in those videos.

She may be bigger in 1989's "Rhythm Nation" and 1990's "Alright", as well - IIRC.

Eh. Janet was *fat* in the "When I Think of You" video, and still losing some of that weight in the "Control" video. She must have been on a crazy diet because by the music video for "Lets Wait Awhile," which followed the "Control" single, she was suddenly almost as thin as she was during the janet. era.

The RN1814 era began with her not being 'fat,' per se, but she had a bit of bloat...while subtly losing more and more weight as time went on.

I actually thought that the "Control" single/video was after "Let's Wait Awhile"; from my personal memories, "Let's Wait Awhile" was more winter 1987, while "Control" came out in the spring of '87. Or was the "Control" video somehow filmed before the video for "Let's Wait Awhile" - but held for release until the spring of '87?

If "Control" was filmed after "Let's Wait Awhile" - Janet did one spectacular weight fluctuation in 1986/1987....from bigger in "When I Think of You" (Summer 1986) - to slim in "Let's Wait Awhile" (Winter 1987) - to bigger again in "Control" (Spring 1987). Then she lost weight again (but not quite as much weight as she did before) for the "Pleasure Principle" video (Summer 1987).

The "Control" single was the followup to "When I Think of You" in late '86/early '87... but the music videos for both could have been shot months before their actual releases, and it's possible that "Control" could have even been shot before the one for WITOY. Who knows?

But, yeah, Janet put on a bit of weight in the mid to latter part of 1986. Years later, she said that how she looked in "When I Think of You" was the heaviest she had ever been (up to the point). By early 1987, she was skinny when she performed at the Grammy's and in the LWA video. She looked like she might have been slightly bigger in "The Pleasure Principal" video (which I'm sure was shot last) than she had been a few months before, but Janet's a yo-yo when it comes to weight. In another interview, she remarked that she was on a crazy diet around the time of TPP and so my guess is that she was struggling to keep the weight down in the last part of the Control era.
