Was it the prick partner that noticed the lesion, and if so, did he convince Bradley Whitford's character to "lose" the file?

If Bradley Whitford's character was in on it then the he and the director did a horrible job with that scene because he wasn't acting like he in the know. If he did then his character deserves an Oscar for that performance. That being said, who hid the document is irrelevant, all we do know is that all the partners wanted to fire Andy because he had AIDS and used this incident as cause.
