I NEED YOUR HELP AND OPINION

Hello everybody,

I'm currently working on a study where I am researching the effects that films have over society. I am focusing on films with homosexual main characters.

I am looking for reactions to this movie, how did you feel when you first watched it? what are your feelings towards the characters? do you think the events in the film are real to the time the movie was filmed? what's your overall opinion to this movie? did something change in you when you watched it? did this movie encourage you to do something, if so, what did you do?

Any other information you want to add could be useful too.
This is my email if you are so kind to answer: [email protected]

Thank you in advance!

I'm straight. I have no real strong opinions about gays one way or the other. My two cents are, well when you watch this movie you don't think of the characters as gay gay. I don't mean to stereotype or generalize gay people. But in the 90s gay characters were always pretty over the top. I'm not saying thats right or wrong. It's simply a fact. It's kind of like black people in movie. Most real old movies that have black characters they try to make them goofy and non threatening. Same thing with gays. A lot of times back in the day, gay characters were just used for comic relief. But now as society is getting more open to the gay community we are getting more developed gay characters. Now as for Hanks, I think the studio was nervous about him being gay. I mean other then the fact that he says he's gay and that one scene where he dances with Antonio there is really nothing to indicate that his character is gay. Okay I don't think he needs to be dancing around to Elton John songs, but I do think the studio was trying to downplay it. I think the studio was much more interested in showing the horror of aids than the discrimination the gay community feels. So to answer the question this movie did not change my feelings towards gay people.
i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocalypse Now

We have to email you? You won't vome back here? Eh, maybe I will do that.

Also, I hope one of your films is "Longtime Companion." It's a thousand times better than "Philadelphia."
