Why did they leave out the murder of Matthew Barr?

Just curious, in the book, it introduces Mattiece.

Probably because the murder of Barr was not needed to move the plot along. No one really needs to be introduced to Victor Matteicce....he is not really necessary to see. He is just the bad guy pulling the strings. We know he is the bad guy. We can easily accept that he is telling people what to do and they are doing it. With a limited amount of time to present the movie his character is easily left on the cutting room floor.
