when julia sees sam sheperd being blown up in the car bomb, i thought that her initial reaction was very unbelievable. i don't know if anyone else thought the same thing. this was right before she's in rupert's car.

She looks real pale, and frail in a sexy, "burning the midnight oil" kinda way. If I were Denzel, I wouldn't've just slept on the couch, youknowhatI'msayin'!!
Jease, you'd think before you did something like freak out in a huge paragraph you might wanna check with someone who read the book, because in the end, its implied that they get down.
I agree... (with the reaction, not all of this pointless debate about Denzel and Julia "getting down") I am a huge fan of Julia's, and I think that her reaction to the car explosion was equivalent to her best acting in Erin Brockovich... I like how she hesitates before completely screaming, like she is shocked. I couldn't have imagined a better actress or reaction to fit those couple of seconds...
1) personally i think it was a terrible reaction. there was no shock, it was almost as if she was screaming even before the car exploded 2) throughout the book Grishman slowly emphasizes the build up of sexual tension between Darby and Grantham so even without having them kiss the director could have done better to imply that their relationship grew to something more than platonic

he/she (the director) could have had her sitting there watching his interview. then when he says "So do you know where she is now?" and he doesn't answer she could have slightly chuckled, because as soon as on the T.V she sees him act like he doesn't know where she is, he could have walked out from a door on to the porch and sat behind her and they could watch the rest of the interview together. do you get it? i mean .. it would have implied a relationship, and yet, he wouldn't have to do anything extreme.
I think the reaction is very weird as well. It doesn't at all look like she is watching or reacting to that car explosion unless she was heavily sedated or something. Whether she is emotionally "shocked" or whatever, she should have jumped or something because that would be a reflexive reaction to the very loud sound.
I thought it was very well done, not at all like the typical movie way of reacting which is probably why some of you are thrown off. Overall I only give this a 7/10 but that reaction was good acting IMO.

Re-watch the damn scene! She does jump!
