How many other people thought it was going to be...

a low-key but intense film focusing on the legal stuff, more like a court case or reporters uncovering the truth? (I didn't realize Pakula made this until after I saw it, so I wasn't expecting it to be that just because of him.)

I thought all the acting was superb esp. Julia, the direction and everything (especially the scene where Gavin is killed) but it was not what I expected. From the minute Tom's car blows up it turns into more of an action-adventure picture with WOMJEP.

You've got me?! Who's got you?!

When this movie came out in 1993, everybody I talked to ABSOLUTELY loved this movie!
For 1993, this movie just hit it out of the park!

Just watched it again, and even after all these years, it has held up beautifully!

I actually had no idea what it was going to be about. I went to the movies with my girlfriend at the time and as we were picking the movie she said let's see the Pelican Brief. I don't even think I'd seen a preview so I had no idea what it was about. When that bomb blew up like that I was totally surprised and then it immediately went into this mysterious, cloak and dagger feel after that. I loved the film. Her hiding with all of these forces out there watching her and looking for her. I really enjoyed it.
