Tilda Swinton
Is beautiful! I couldn't have taken my eyes off of her even if I'd wanted to.
She played the role remarkably well! But I should have expected it, Tilda is one amazing woman.

the weird thing is, in this movie I thought she was stunning, especially in the 1860s with Shelmerdine, but when I see her in most other movies I think her looks are strangely out of place with the rest of the world.

Definately, I do not feel Narnia would have been as popular without her. She was incredible.

Agree.
She's gorgeous in constantine.
and as olive in Tecknolust
and as herself in Cycling the Frame & the invisible Frame
and as the girl in Jarman's Aria segment
and as the white witch in Narnia
and in Adaptation,Vanilla Sky,& Thumbsucker
and as the investigator in The Statement
and in Friendship's Death
and in Young Adam
Shouldn't she look like a young man at the beginning and as long as she is supposed to be a male? I think that Tilda at no moment looked like this, exactly because she is so fragile. She was not persuading in a way.
Remember her with Charlotte Valandrey. They looked just like lesbians. Well, for the whole film it may be an insignificant detail.
Actually she looked perfectly male.....for that time period.
The fashion was such that men tended to dress, & perhaps behave (mannerisms, etc), more effeminate (altho I realize it wasn't necessarily considered so at the time). So for that very reason I think she was quite convincing!

Tilda was absolutely amazing in this role. I loved the moments when she spoke to the camera. What fun!
shareHonestly, one of the best performances of all time. She was absolutely sublime.

I'm a heterosexual woman for the most part...but I crush so hard on her Orlando! XD

she looks like an alien to me. and that is not a good-looking alien at that lol
shareTilda is amazing, whatever she does, in whichever incarnation, as a man or a woman.
She's a work of art.
I love Tilda in many roles and I enjoyed Orlando but I do feel she is very well cast, not that this is one of her best roles. She looks the part and of course has that otherworldly beauty and strangeness about her which is perfect for this role, but I'm not sure the part requires much acting ability.
