I was confused by the gender parallels

At first I thought Orlando was a lesbian, but then I hear that she sees herself as a man, I guess? Then, we have a scene where she stands naked in front of a mirror and says "Same person. No difference at all... just a different sex."

Huh???

Orlando was a man who became a woman later in the story.
