Wow. Anyone else cry?

I used to watch this movie a lot when I was younger, and I absolutely loved it. But I never remember crying during the entire thing, like I did today. I think that maybe it was a mixture of nostalgia and the story, in general. But, wow, I could not control my tear gland. I was literally curled up on the couch with a roll of tissue.

But, yeah. Does anyone else who loves(d) this movie, also love(d) The Great Mouse Detective, All Dogs go to Heaven, The Last Unicorn, Secret of Nimth, Ferngully and other tales involving our furry friends or saving wildlife? I know I sure did.

I know when I watched it when I was young I always cryed at the part when Edgar gets caught in the trap and he is crying. That always got me.

reply

i don't remember actually crying but a lot of parts freak me quite a bit.

I havn't watched this movie since I was like 5. I'm going to order it and watch it for the first time in 8 years. I can't wait!

Then when that dude set him free I cried my eyes out.

reply

That touched me as well. I felt bad for the little badger, everyone else was reunited with their parents.

I just watched it a couple nights ago and cried so hard, I went into my suitemates room and they immediately got up and hugged me. They thought something was really wrong because of all the tears. Then I went back into my dormroom and watched the ending, still crying.

All Dogs Go To Heaven, An American Tale, and the first Land Before Time make me cry so hard!

reply

i completely agree with you about the land before time, all dogs go to heaven, and an american tail. they all have the same director in common though so that's probably why. it's funny how all those movies when we were kids were so damn depressing. no wonder we're all messed up haha jk

I love all the other movies you mentioned. I don't mean to sound old (only 19) but they just don't make movies like they use to. It seems like kids movies these days are so fluffy for lack of a better word. I remember watching Once Upon a Forest and the others you mentioned and I was freaked out but I think it was a good thing. It showed me that nasty and scary things out there. Again, I don't mean to sound old and I know people have been saying this for generations, but I worry about the generation behind me.

I would also like to add another movie to your list. Watership Down. Another amazing movie, albeit a bit disturbing at times.

reply

Don't worry about the generations behind you. There will always be the "Metalica" kid the "Beatles" kid or the "He's WAY into World War 2 and I think he's going to shoot a place up one day, I better be nicer to him" kid

I love Ferngully.

ADgtH is better than the sequel, but not very high up on my favorites list.

Last Unicorn and Secret of NIMH are okay films, I guess.

Sorry, I don't like Great Mouse Detective. If I were more into Sherlock Holmes, maybe I would be, but I'm not.

And I just got done watching OUaF, and cried a little during the viewing.

If I watched this again I'd probably cry

Watched it today... cried three times..
3!!

Never cried three separate times with a movie..

Although it could just be some pent up emotion.

Come and get it, bitches.

I watched this really early this morning for the first time in years and I couldn't help but cry.
When I first watched this, I could hardly tell what was going on in the movie, I actually thought that Cornelius and Michelle were the brother and sister during the flashback (I was 6 at the time and wasn't very good at paying attention sometimes) and that it was their parents that died when Abigail went into the house and saw them

And I will get him back even as he gloats. In the meantime I'll practice on less honorable throats!

Yes, I cried, in fact that's an understatement, the ending especially made me weep buckets.

I loved Great Mouse Detective, Last Unicorn and my all time favorite, Secret of NIMH. But oh man. NIMH scares the crap out of me and I'm 20 years old now. That freaking owl. O_O

Ok, I always felt a lump in my throat whenever Cornelius sings to Michelle, but when I saw in the trivia section that Michael Crawford almost cried during the recording because he imagined himself in Cornelius's position, the tears are even stronger now!!! Knowing this fact, you can REALLY hear the emotion in his voice. He wasn't overacting by any means. It just shows what a tender heart he has.

Exactly. I read that Crawford actually had trouble finishing the song due to his tears, and if you listen to the recording you CAN hear his voice starting to break at some point during the song. He really is a rare artist and human being.
