I understand the character was cut from the film version, but how cool would it have been if Kiefer Sutherland had reprised his role as Ace Merrill from Stand By Me?
shareThis may be the oddest thing on earth .. but all through the book I imagined Randy Newman as Leland Gaunt (You know the guy who sings 'You've Got A Friend In Me) . But I think Max von Sydow played the part real well.
I could see Ray Wise as a good Alan Pangborn, but to be honest the casting in this movie was pretty good.
As for Father Meehan , Ian Holm, Sean Connery with a beard? .
For Brain Rusk I thought was a bad casting choice however. The kid's acting was dreadful. I know for the time it would of been not possible, but, Hayley Joel Osment would play the role fantastic.

I think the casting was perfect. Max von Sydow, Ed Harris, Bonnie Bedelia & J.T. Walsh all did a wonderful job.
