This would make an excellent television series

I don't think a truly faithful movie adaptation can be made of this novel. But this story would make a hell of a television series. Think about it... In the first episode, Gaunt moves into Castle Rock, Pangborn and the other main characters are introduced. In each subsequent episode, more characters and new items for sale are introduced. The tension and violence escalates with each new episode. With some good, creative writers attached there could be some great new items, storylines and characters developed within Castle Rock.

I like this idea, but I don't think any production company would ever take it seriously. Anybody remember "Friday the 13th: The Series" where the three lead actors track down a haunted object from the grandfathers antique show in each episode? I see that show as the strongest reason for a Needful Things series never happening.

But that was an ongoing series. Needful Things would be a miniseries, with maybe 6 episodes at about 90 minutes each. Then it would be over.

Yes, I agree. "Needful Things" would make an excellent miniseries.

I kept thinking this while watching the movie.

I could see it happening. I remember Friday the 13th. I never missed an episode.

Hey Scratch! I see that you no longer post but your idea was great. This could have been better than Under The Dome!

I think it would too. But it would maybe seem a little bit too much like the series Friday the 13th (about a shop of haunted antiques and merchandise - it had nothing to do with the Friday the 13th movie series).

I'd watch that!
The TV series 'American Gothic' also played on the mafioso style, favor-asking devil theme, with a little magic thrown in for good measure. However the main difference is the devil in AG likes to get his hands dirty as often as possible ...
