I read in a different board that the Loaded Weapon script was originally written to be a Sledgehammer movie. For some reason the production deal was never ironed out and the script wound up on the screen via alterations as the Loaded weapon incarnation.

It's feasible as the humour is particularly close to sledgehammer material.

Wondered if anyone can verify this. And which would you find to be the favoured incarnation, the current one or a sledgehammer movie (as best as you can visualise) based on it.

Thinking about it, you have to wonder if it had been a sledge movie, how samuel Jacksons career would of shaped without this to propel him into a larger limelight. Speculte on that how u like.

Alan Spencer, the creator of SLEDGE HAMMER, (as far as I can recall) didn't care for the changes the studio wanted, so they changed the story to what it became.

The only way Alan Spencer would do a SLEDGE movie, is if David Rasche and possibly Harrison Page and Anne-Marie Martin)were to play the characters they did on the show. --This is from what I remember. :)
