great movie so underated
great movie a real gem de niro amazing in this so is murray and thurman
shareI honestly was thinking the same exact thoughts. I have seen a thousand movies and not too many films were similar. Seeing Deniro playing a role out of his typical element, as well as Murray was a real treat. Uma was very sexy, imo. Should be better recognized for what a excellent film it's. Comedic/crime picture with an unfamiliar touch.

It does remind me a bit of Atlantic City (1980), and later on you had The Cooler (2003) which has a very similar plot and characters, but is a bit more violent/dramatic.

One of my favorite scenes, not just from the movie but in any Robert De Niro film, is when his character, Wayne Dobie tries to act big man taking action with his female neighbors violent boyfriend, and ends up getting humiliated in front of Glory. Then later on he witness his younger, shot-first-then-ask macho partner Mike "If I ever had an intelligent thought, I would die a lonely guy" find a way to pay the violent ape back without having to use any violence, and afterwards he utters:"No guts, no glory".
Later on we get to see De Niro's character, (probably even more down on himself after seeing how his partner made it seem so easy to stand up to a big bully) ends up drawing his gun at some irritating junkie/thug in full daylight, "YOU WANNA GO DODGE CITY *beep*"
