If the roles were reversed....
Robert Deniro should've played the 'Frank Milo' part, and Bill Murray should've played the Mad Dog part and it probably would've been a better movie.
shareThat’s what makes this movie noteworthy; seeing De Niro and Murray play against type. Contrary to what some say, De Niro has showed plenty of range throughout his career. But for a movie like this, EVERYONE would have expected him to play Murray’s role and vice versa. So it was refreshing to see the roles reversed.
This movie may not be the best to others (underrated gem in my book), but De Niro & Murray played their roles with such ease and they absolutely make the film worth watching.
I thought the casting against type was the perfect way to do this movie.
I also agree that it is an underrated gem.
