The first part of the movie is actually kind of creepy

I know this movie is almost universally hated and looked at as a goofy cheesfest, but i gotta say the beginning of the movie with the old couple is pretty creepy. From the little kid voice Lep uses to fool the old woman, then when she opens the suitcase you just see those creepy looking eyes in the dark, and then when Lep has her corpse in the basement using it as a puppet. It is pretty creepy, and you don't really see his face at all in the beginning cause he's in the shadows, so that helps alot in making creepy.

Also he's not very joky and cheesy at the start he's pretty serious and viscous there. Only after Jennifer Aniston shows up then the rest of the movie becomes pretty campy and cheesy. Also they should have kept his face in the shadows the whole movie like at the start, that would have helped a ton. I mean if the rest of the movie was like the beginning all throughout this movie would be alot better.

First off this movie isn't hated by anyone and second it was made in the early 90's so yeah it's a little cheesy.

Isn't hated by anyone? I've watched enough horror fans on youtube express how they feel about this movie and i've seen enough topics on this board to know that it is hated by alot.

So dude if you love this movie fine all the more power to you, i like it as well i'm not bashing it i was saying it was creepy at the start and it got cheesy and comedic after. I like the movie but i don't love it, i really enjoy the beginning of it and i think the rest with Jennifer Aniston is ok. I don't hate it, i actually enjoy the series for what it is.

I guess it depends on who you talk to to get opinions I know a lot of horror buffs and they all claim that they love this movie. I can't say that I am a fan of the series because I've only seen this one and "back to the hood" which I liked when I was younger but watching it again it was kind of stupid to me.

And I'm sorry if I came on a little overbearing I was just a little flabergasted at that statement.

WHY were you flabergasted by that commemt? It is hated by alot of people. It has a cruddy 4.4 on here, was despised by critics on release, and is even hated by Jennifer Aniston herself. Of course it has a following, and it is fun, but that doesn't change the fact that it was hated by alot of people.

Read my first post this time it explains that the people I grew up with loved this film I never went on the internet much growing up. I don't care what a bunch of incompetent loser critics from the internet who over-analyze movies think about this film. Nostalgia critic and Siskel and Ebert come to mind.

reply

Yes, but it doesn't change the fact that this film didn't go over well. It has a 4.4 on here alone, and that's sad considering nostalgia (and not to mention that's it's the first film in a series) should bring it up.

That part is creepy, most scary movies at the time were
(most "scary" movies in the last 10 years have been crap "just put on"

don't bother with people who "over analyze",they're critic$
