Lionsgate and WWE Studios Hire Director for Leprechaun Reboot

Lionsgate and WWE Studios have hired visual effects specialist Zach Lipovsky to direct their Leprechaun reboot, reports The Wrap. Lipovsky was a finalist on the Fox reality show "On the Lot."

WWE's Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl will play the title character, which was made famous in the original 1993 movie by Warwick Davis.

The new film will not connect with previous mythology of the franchise in any way. It was previously said that the tone is going to be a little darker, more traditional horror.

Harris Wilkinson wrote the script for the film. Lionsgate's Erik Feig, Michael Paseornek and John Sacchi will oversee the project for the studio, along with co-producing partners Michael Luisi and Richard Lowell of WWE Studios.

Please don't tell me that Warwick Davis isn't playing the Leprechaun, and that Vern Troyer is taking his place. It isn't the Leprechaun without Davis.

@ FascistAnarchist999 it looks that way at the moment, hopefully we will hear more news soon

One of WWE's own will be playing the part. I would be surprised if this new movie would be any good. WWE's track record is horrible.

I will at least see it and give it a chance before I judge it. There aren't too many good horror movies I know of coming out this year so this is one of the only ones that even sounds vaguely interesting.

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

Yea I will do the same horror2,I really want to see Insidious chapter 2+Devils Due both out now on DVD

reply

I'm not optimisitic. I can't imagine anybody but Warwick Davis playing the Leprechaun. And WWF's attempt at horror in See No Evil was pretty bad.

I'll probably see it though.
