Brilliant burglar
He steals a TV that he figures will get him $20, and leaves behind a pair of handcuffs which were worth about ... $20.

shareI never thought he stole the TV. He goes on about how Danny has nothing but junk. Now thinking of it, I've got a 1080P TV that is now 10 years old. I've got a playstation 4 though. Thief would love to have it.
shareHe said, "What is it with you?! You've got junk! No jewelry, no VCR, a shit TV that will get me twenty bucks..."
If he didn't steal the TV then he's about $20 in the hole due to leaving his handcuffs behind, which would make him even more "brilliant."
He does say it's $20 but in a disappointed way. Maybe he did take it. I always liked to think he didn't since Danny's mom can't afford another TV for a while.
shareThat burglar was so ridiculous and one of the weakest elements of the movie. He feels just as over the top and cliche as the "fake world" characters. The writers did a bad job separating the fake world from the real world; all the characters feel equally as movie-esque.
